Summer Mini Tennis Classes
Very few kids are able to learn proper tennis fundamentals and tactics on a full size court. Our Mini Tennis Classes are a unique program that uses creative language, imaginative games and scaled down equipment to maximize success and enjoyment. Classes are based on age, size and ability. The Mini Tennis program includes 4 steps in the child’s progression. Each step is designed to slow the game speed down and accelerate the acquisition of tennis skills and correct stroke development. As the child progresses, the difficulty level, court size, racquet size, net height, and balls will come closer and closer to traditional tennis.
Club Membership is not required for Pre-School, Quickstart, Rookie Ralliers, and Multi-Activity Camp
Pre-School (Ages 4-5)
This class is designed to familiarize your child with tennis balls, racquets and the court. Children will be introduced to tennis through many different types of exercises and games. They will improve their catching, throwing and motor skills. They will also learn how to handle a racquet and make contact with the ball. This program uses specifically designed equipment.
QUICKSTART (Ages 6-8)
This class introduces correct stroke techniques. Children will learn how the racquet moves, the perception (receiving) and the production (sending) of ball trajectories. The proper movement on the court will be introduced as well as hitting a ball before (volley) or after bounce (groundstroke). This program uses scaled-down equipment.
ROOKIE RALLIERS (Ages 7-11)
Stroke mechanics, basic footwork, rallying and learning the rules will be the focus to get consistency and introduce tactical patterns. The development of these skills will be taught through cooperative or competitive situations.
Multi-Activity Camp (Ages 7-12)
This morning camp involves fun activities on court and off. Children will start the day playing tennis, then following a snack they will have their choice of a wide range of activities with arts & crafts, games and more. This camp concludes with lunch.
